“Why do you coach”? “Well, because my son asked me to”.
"The development of players and the impact that has on building a team is a big reason why I love coaching. Each player will be on a different path depending on their individual circumstances so I learnt to make it fun (which, most importantly, made it enjoyable for me). I’ve found that when the kids are developing and having fun, the results generally take care of themselves.
There is no such thing as a “one-size-fits-all” in coaching, so tapping into various resources, and learning how other coaches go about things is important in terms of being able to remain relevant to participants of all walks of life. Coaching is more about learning than teaching; it’s a journey rather than a destination – and very much a two-way street.”

"I’ve loved being part of the WHITE FERNS again, this time as a coach. I always wanted to coach internationally so that was always in the back of my mind when I was playing. When I first started coaching I spent a lot of time at community level and involved in schools.
From there I progressed onto coaching age group regional representative teams, which helped me reach where I am today, coaching the WHITE FERNS. Coaching is so different than playing on so many levels. Learning to express yourself so that all players, rather just some, can access the options and resources available to them, is a challenge but a hugely satisfying one."
