Debbie Hockley CNZM MNZM – President
Appointed NZC President: 2016
Debbie Hockley was elected president of NZC at the 2016-17 Annual Meeting, and re-elected for a further three-year term in 2019.
Ms Hockley is a former WHITE FERNS captain and a member of the International Cricket Council’s Hall of Fame.
She is the first women to hold the post of President in NZC’s 122-year history, the first female president of any ICC full member board, and was awarded Life Membership of NZC in 2018.
Lesley Murdoch
Appointed NZC Vice President: 2021
Lesley Murdoch is a former New Zealand double-international, having represented her country in cricket and hockey. She played six Tests and 25 ODIs for the New Zealand women’s cricket team (captaining them in both disciplines), as well as being a member of the New Zealand hockey team that finished sixth at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Off the field, Lesley’s contribution to cricket has been significant. A member of the Hood Committee that modernised the old New Zealand Cricket Council in 1995, she was an NZC Board member from 1996-98, a New Zealand women’s team selector and, in 2019, was made a Life Member of NZC.
Over the past three decades, Lesley has been a prominent sports broadcaster and commentator, both on radio and on television – where she earned a reputation as one of SKY sports most respected match commentators. In 2016, she became the first women to receive the New Zealand Sports Journalism Association’s Lifetime Award for Outstanding Contribution to Sport. In 1987, Lesley received an MBE for services to cricket and hockey, and in 2016 she was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to sport. She is a past president and now board member of the Christchurch Metro Cricket Association, a Netball New Zealand board member, and a trustee of the NZ Community Trust. Lesley is wife to Tim and mother to Katherine, Alexandra, and Josh.

Martin Snedden CNZM

A former 1980s BLACKCAP, Martin Snedden brings a wealth of ‘business of sport’ experience to the table. Martin, at various stages, has been Chief Executive of NZC, Rugby New Zealand 2011 (which delivered RWC 2011), Tourism Industry Association NZ, and Duco Events, and leader of NZC’s One Cricket project.
He is currently a director on the boards of the ICC, the Cricketers’ Hardship Trust, and Women in Sport Aotearoa, as well as chair of Auckland’s Heart of the City business association board and of Auckland’s Destination AKL 2025 industry leaders’ group. He has previously been a director of World Masters Games 2017, and a partner of an Auckland-based law firm.
Anna Campbell
Appointed to NZC Board in 2020
Anna Campbell has a PhD in plant biotechnology and has worked for a number of years as a commercial scientist. She joined AbacusBio in 2007, a private company, where she was a Partner then Managing Director, before co-founding a nutraceuticals business, Zestt Wellness, in 2020.
Anna was elected as the first female Director of the Otago Cricket Association, after significant involvement with community cricket in Dunedin. She also Chairs the boards of Otago Innovation (the University of Otago’s commercialisation arm) and The Astino Sheep Company and is a Director on the boards of Acceligen (a US company) and InstatData.
Jackie Lloyd
Appointed to NZC Board in 2019
Jackie Lloyd is currently a director of Kiwi Group Holdings, Naylor Love Enterprises and AgResearch, a board member of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa and a trustee of The Lion Foundation. She also serves on the National Council of the Institute of Directors.
Jackie has a background in governance, business transformation and people and culture. She previously served as global human resources director for the New Zealand Dairy Board and NZMP Fonterra, and subsequently as a consultant and New Zealand country manager for Hewitt Associates and The Gallup Organization. Jackie is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors and has a BA in Psychology and BCom in Marketing and Manpower from Otago University.
Kevin Malloy
Appointed to NZC Board in 2019
Kevin Malloy has extensive experience in the advertising and marketing industries, including a 29-year stint with the global media agency Starcom. His previous positions include the role of global client director on both Coca-Cola and P&G.
Kevin is now based in Auckland and is a board member of TVNZ and Kiwbank. He is also involved on the boards of the charity organisations the Dingle Foundation and Halberg Foundation and has an ongoing consultancy role with Tourism NZ as its global digital specialist and advisor.
Diana Puketapu
Appointed to NZC Board in 2017
Diana was Chief Financial Officer for more than ten years, both in the commercial sector and in the sporting environment, including two America’s Cup sailing campaigns based in the UK and Spain.
She is a Director of NZX50 company Napier Port Holdings as well as Ngati Porou Holdings, the wealth creation arm of Ngati Porou. In 2015 she was elected to the board of the New Zealand Olympic Committee. She is a Fellow Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors. Diana’s iwi affiliation is Ngati Porou.
Rebecca Rolls
Appointed to NZC Board in 2020
Rebecca Rolls has represented New Zealand in two different codes, first making her mark in football before going on to enjoy an international cricket career as a wicket-keeper. She then returned to her football career and was part of the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic campaigns. Professionally Rebecca has had a long career holding senior leadership roles within the public sector.
In 2019, Rebecca became an observer on the New Zealand Cricket Board. Prior to this she was an establishment member of the Government Women’s Network (GWN), a member of the NZ Cricket Players Association board and is a recent graduate of the NZ Olympic Committee Women’s Sport Leadership Academy (WSLA.) She has also held the role of New Zealand Cricket Code of Conduct Commissioner since 2017. Rebecca is of Māori descent and affiliates with the Ngati Porou iwi.
Roger Twose
Appointed to NZC Board in 2021
Roger Twose played over 100 games for the BLACKCAPS and represented Central Districts, Northern Districts and Wellington along with several District Associations, giving him first-hand experience of the wider cricket community in NZ. Regarded as a key influencer within his era, he was a pivotal member of the team that won the Champions Trophy in 2000 and was ranked 2nd in the world for ODI batsmen that same year.
After retiring from cricket, Roger joined the National Bank, working his way up to senior management level, before joining Willis Bond & Company Limited, serving on its senior management team and then as a director, primarily responsible for several large-scale development projects including their Wynyard Quarter project in Auckland with an end-value in excess of $500 million.
Roger is a past-chair of the NZCPA and has served on NZC’s High Performance Advisory Group for the last 10 months. He is an investment committee member for two Willis Bond Capital Partners’ private equity funds totalling $232 million and is a current board member of NZ’s pre-eminent swimming club, North Shore Swimming.
Bill Birnie CNZM
Appointed to NZC Board in 2021
Bill received a CNZM for services to Governance, the Arts and Sport, and holds a Bachelor of Laws. Bill has a strong investment banking and investment background. He is responsible for managing Sir Owen Glenn’s philanthropic activities in New Zealand and is a member of Sir Owen’s Global Investment Committee. He has held several Government board appointments including Sport NZ, High Performance Sport NZ, Hillary Commission, NZ Racing Board, NZ Film Commission and the NZ Screen Council. He is currently a Director of TAB NZ and a Trustee of the NZ Parliamentary Education Trust. Following his tenure on the Equestrian Federation Board, Bill was awarded an Honorary Life Membership by Equestrian Sport NZ. Bill is Chairman of the KidsCan Charitable Trust and a Founding Trustee of the Wellington Stadium Trust.
