Guptill century ensures BLACKCAPS victory

A Martin Guptill century has ensured the BLACKCAPS have started their three-match ODI series against Bangladesh with an emphatic eight-wicket win at McLean Park, Napier.

After winning the toss and batting first, the visitors were bowled out for 232 in the 49th over, the wicket taking shared among the New Zealand attack.

Trent Boult took 3-40 while Mitchell Santner picked up 3-45; Bangladesh’s middle and lower order providing the resistance with MD Mithun (62) and MD Shaifuddin (41) the best of their batting.

The home side’s chase was anchored by Guptill (117*), the opener bringing up his 15th ODI century off just 103 balls.

Guptill shared in a century opening stand with Henry Nicholls (53) also, before finishing the job with Ross Taylor (45*).

The BLACKCAPS lead the three-match series 1-0 with the next game at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Saturday.
