In short
The BLACKCAPS blew-away Pakistan by 183-runs in the third ODI at the University of Otago Oval in Dunedin.
Trent Boult led the way with the ball, snaring 5-17 to help dismiss the visitors for 74 in the 28th over.
Early Grab
We're on the board with the Tui Catch-a-million! Craig Doherty, a builder and club cricketer from Dunedin won 50k for plucking a one-hander off a Martin Guptill six in the first over of the BLACKCAPS innings. A stable base, steady hand - thanks very much! Other would-be crowd catchers - take note!
Early Graft
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the BLACKCAPS were made to work hard for their runs. Martin Guptill (45) and Kane Williamson (73) had to apply themselves and patiently put on a 69-run partnership after the early wicket of Colin Munro.
A Total
The boys were probably looking towards 300, but after a slow start and some late wickets, 257 felt like a decent total. Credit to Pakistan who snared 6-30 at the backend of the BLACKCAPS innings to curtail any late fireworks. Trent Boult once again came out and
Boult Again
The king-of-swing was at his magnificent best in Dunedin. With support from Tim Southee into the wind, Boult knocked the top off the Pakistan batting line-up with some classic new-ball bowling. Ross Taylor played his part at first slip pocketing three grabs. Pakistan was 9-3 after the opening 10-over power-play and the game looked almost gone.
Clinical
Backing up the opening bowlers was always going to be a challenge, but Lockie Ferguson and surprise package Colin Munro did the job perfectly. They compounded the Pakistan pain, with the scorecard reading 16-6 at one stage! Captain Kane also produced a magnificent one-hand grab to dismiss Hassan Ali, before some late tail-wagging by the visitors got them out of any record-breaking territory.
