An outstanding display in the field has secured the narrowest of wins for the Wellington Blaze over the Otago Sparks in the Twenty20 match at Molyneux Park, Alexandra.
Batting first the Blaze reached a par score of 126 with Lucy Doolan and Sophie Devine both reaching 48.
Sparks bowler Sarah Tsukigawa was the pick of the attack taking three for 21 with Suzie Bates picking up two for 23.
The run chase appeared to be going along nicely at 102 for four but a string of run-outs allowed the Blaze back into the game and eventually handed them a one run win.
Five of the seven wickets to fall were run outs with Devine picking up the other two.
