Blaze strengthen position at top of the table

Lucy Doolan hit her maiden One-Day century to guide the Wellington Blaze to an easy six wicket win over the Northern Spirit at Kelburn Park, Wellington.

The Blaze all rounder only hit seven boundaries but still only needed 105 balls to reach 102.

Sophie Devine was also in fine touch with a blistering 73 from 55 as the home team romped to victory with eleven overs to spare.

Earlier, overall MVP leader Nicola Browne continued her rich vein of form hitting 85.

Seventeen year old Heidi Arndt was next best with 37 as the Northern Spirit put on 215 off their allocated 45 overs.

Wellington strike bowler Sian Ruck was the pick of the bowling attack with two for 42.

The win sees the Wellington Blaze extend their lead at the top of the table with the Northern Knights back in fifth spot.
