Broadmore heroics pip Hearts

Central Hinds scrambled to their first win in the Action Cricket Cup one-day cricket championship courtesy of some final-over heroics from Kate Broadmore today.

With Auckland Hearts needing just seven runs off the final over to overhaul the visitors' 247 for eight at Colin Maiden Park, Broadmore stepped up, conceding just four runs and delivered a superb final over. She bowled Sam Curtis for 30 with her second ball and repeated the dose off the final ball to Paul Gruber, with the latter needing three to secure victory.

Broadmore took three for 33 to support the earlier efforts with the bat of teammates Sara McGlashan, 72, and Aimee Watkins, 63.

Opener Megan Tremaine reached 50 for Auckland and Maddie Green 42 as they reached a tantalising 245 for nine.
