Rain has seen the first of two Twenty20s between the BLACKCAPS and Sri Lanka abandoned without a ball being bowled.
The covers never came off at Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy as torrential rain persisted until the game was officially called off.
Prior to the match, it was announced that BLACKCAPS allrounder Jimmy Neesham would miss the final two Twenty20s with a finger injury.
The series will now be decided in the second match on Thursday at the same venue.
