Hearts cruise to victory

Auckland Hearts captain Victoria Lind hit 80 not out to set up a 34 run win over the Central Hinds at Queen Elizabeth Park, Masterton.

The Hearts made 229 after being put into bat and it looked like it was well below par as the Hinds were cruising at 149 for three.

The wicket of Aimee Watkins for 68 off 58 sparked a collapse that saw Central crumble to be 195 all out after 42 overs.

Sara McGlashan did her best to steer the team home but when she went for 73 the match was gone.

Auckland bowler Natalie Scripps was the main destroyer taking four for 35 with Saskia Bullen picking up three for 39.

The Hearts innings was set up by an unbeaten 101 run partnership between Lind and Holly Huddleston (44*) for the sixth wicket.

The Hinds let themselves down with wayward bowling, conceding 44 runs in extras. Kate Broadmore was the one bowler with her radar switched on, taking three wickets – all bowled.
