Hinds defend low total

The Central Hinds defended their modest total of 164 against the Otago Blaze in their One-Day match at Queen Elizabeth Park, Masterton.

The home side struggled to get any momentum in their innings with a number of players getting starts but no one kicking on.

Number three batsman Sara McGlashan hit 25, number six Aroha Northover 33 before number eight Sarah Norman finished the innings off with 38 not out before running out of partners.

Otago medium pacers Amanda Green took four for 39 with Claire Taylor collecting two for 44.

The Sparks were never really in the match with their top six batsmen back in the hut with only 70 on the board.

Sarah Tsukigawa was the only one to threaten the attack with 39 but she was unsupported by the rest of the line up.

It was a tidy display by all of the Hinds bowlers with Rachel Candy, Maneka Singh, Abby Burrows and Kate Broadmore all picking up two wickets.
