New Zealand A suffered an eight-wicket defeat at the hands of Pakistan A in the opening T20 in Dubai on Friday.
Captain Corey Anderson won the toss and elected to bat, but early wickets saw himself and Tim Seifert brought together at 12-4.
Seifert went on to top score with 26 of 17 balls before he was undone by seamer Umaid Asif, who claimed 5-20 to help bowl New Zealand A out for 65.
The hosts made light work of the run chase, reaching the target in the 13th over.
