ROUND THREE | 6 December 2019
Lincoln Green, Lincoln
Canterbury U19 beat Otago U19 by 6 wickets
A five-wicket bag continued a good week with bat and ball for Canterbury's Matt Boyle.
Boyle returned 5-26 off his 10 overs with three maidens included, slowing down the Otago run rate after they were sent in by their hosts.
Otago opener Cam Jackson was again in the runs with 66 at the top, top-scoring for his side.
But he was denied adequate support as Boyle began ripping out the top and middle order, claiming Jackson himself as the second of his bag.
After two caught and bowleds had secured Boyle's five-for by just the 31st over, the only other Otago batsman to reach 50 was Louis Holt who belted his 51 off 41 balls at seven.
They were useful runs as the rest of the order fell away to see Otago all out for 226 in the penultimate over.
After his heroics with ball, Boyle was an early Canterbury casualty with the bat but fellow opener Matthias Paltridge produced an unbeaten 90*.
Paltridge share a century stand with Lachie Harper (42) for the fourth wicket and watched Tom Dunlop (35*) finish it off in the 47th over of a well controlled chase.
