NZCT Secondary School Girls Tournament Day Three
In a great week for Wellington school cricket, Tawa College retained the title of NZCT Secondary School Girls Champions with an impressive unbeaten run of five from five, while Amelia Kerr (Tawa College) was named Player of the Tournament for the second year in a row.
Amelia scored an impressive 183 runs and was not out for the entire tournament. She had a bowling economy rate of 3.36, took four catches and claimed one unassisted run out.

Villa Maria College v Havelock North High School
Havelock North High School 102/4 from 12 overs (O Addis 31, N Taylor 27) beat Villa Maria (G Sullivan 39*) by 18 runs

With a shortened game (12 overs) due to rain delays, the final game of the tournament brought Villa Maria College up against Havelock North High School.
Villa Maria won the toss and decided to bat first. The opening batting pair got off to a good start, the first wicket to fall bringing one of the tournament’s top scorers to the crease: Havelock North’s Olivia Addis, who continued her form with an impressive 31 runs and had a good partnership with captain Natalya Taylor (27).
With strong wind gusts going across the pitch, Villa Maria bowled well to keep runs down. Villa Maria was set a total of 102 to chase down, openers Olivia McGoverne (17) and Gabrielle Sullivan with an unbeaten 39 getting off to a blasting start.
Havelock North’s Sophie Pyott took a crucial wicket to slow the run chase down and, from there onwards, wickets fell consistently and the target became out of reach, Havelock North coming away with an 18-run win.
Epsom Girls' Grammar v Tawa College
Epsom Girls' Grammar 67/7 (J Tainui 39) lost to Tawa College (A Kerr 21*, M Mason-Jones 29*) by 10 wickets

Epsom Girls' Grammar and top of the table Tawa College took each other on today in a shortened game (12 overs).
Tawa won the toss and sent EGGS in to bat first, Epsom Girls' Jayda Tainui continuing her form with the bat and blasting her way to a quickfire 39.
However, Tawa College was sharp in the field with four quick runouts that helped them stop Epsom Girls' from getting momentum.
Chasing 67, Amelia Kerr (21 not out) and Makayla Mason-Jones (29 not out) set off on the run chase positively, and built a good partnership to anchor their team through to an impressive 10-wicket win to end the tournament as back-to-back title winners.
Whangarei Girls' High School v St Hilda’s Collegiate
St Hilda’s Collegiate 99/2 (I James 51, G Heffernan 17) beat Whangarei Girls' High School 49/1 (J Litchfield 20) by 50 runs

The final game of the tournament brought Whangarei Girls' up against St Hilda’s Collegiate.
St Hilda's decided to bat and that led to one of the tournament's quickfire half centuries from team captain Isabella James, blitzing her way to 51 not out from 36 balls.
She was supported by batters around her to build the team total to 99 from the 12 overs. Whangarei showed good patience out in the middle and batted well, opener Olivia Lobb unbeaten on 14 and keeping the score ticking over with Jade Litchfield (20 runs).
Tight bowling from St Hilda’s made runs hard to come by, allowing St Hilda’s to win by 50 runs and to finish overall runners-up for 2015/16.
