CD had headed into the final day at U17 nationals in second spot, but ended it second to last after Wellington finished with a bang.
Wellington won the toss and batted, stringing together partnerships at the top to set up a competitive score.
Peter Bonar (32) and Alex Thompson (28) kicked things off with a 63-run opening stand, and from 78/2 Sam Morgan (38) combined with Ethan Jefferson to take Wellington through to 139/3.
Jefferson would go on to top-score with 78 at four, but the loss off Morgan in the 29th over was the start of a day to remember for Toby Findlay, however, who would go on to close out the innings with a five-fer.
Findlay took 5-38 off seven, striking twice in the 45th over and again in each of his last two death overs to dismiss Wellington for 268 with five balls unutilised.
Two early wickets from Jacob Madigan (3-33) put a bit of a dampener on CD's start in reply at 50/2, but both James Rawnsley (43) and CD captain Curtis Heaphy (run out on 63) continued their solid tournament form.
The pair took CD to 138/3 in the 33rd over, but CD still needed to play a few overs of catch-up.
Instead of elevating their run rate, CD instead disintegrated to be all out for 218, a win to Wellington with two and a half overs to spare.
