It was a case of deja vu for Pakistan in the second Twenty20 International in Sharjah, as WHITE FERNS
The powerful 28-year-old belted five sixes in her 70 runs off 44 balls to help the visitors claim a comfortable 39-run victory on another hot day in the UAE.
Devine was awarded her third Player of the Match award in five games, as the WHITE FERNS pushed ahead 2-0 in the four-game T20I series.
After a conservative start to the batting innings, Devine and captain Suzie Bates (52) burst into life after the opening six-over power-play, striking 15 boundaries between them in a dominant 116-run opening partnership.
Devine smashed 27 runs in a six-ball sequence at one stage, before she was caught at long-on, leaving Bates to take over the hitting with a big score seemingly on the cards.
To Pakistanβs credit, they hung tough and were rewarded with six quick-wickets which halted the WHITE FERNS momentum, forcing the visitors to settle for a total of 150 for 8 from their 20 overs.
As they have done all tour, the Kiwi bowling attack was disciplined and applied plenty of run-rate pressure from the start.
Only one bowler conceded more than a run-a-ball, as Pakistan found themselves requiring an unlikely 90 runs from the final ten overs.
That equation would only get harder for the hosts as the wickets were shared around the WHITE FERNS bowlers and Sam Curtis affected a run-out.
Pakistan eventually finishing 40 runs short of the target on 111 for 7.
The teams will have a couple of days off before returning to the Sharjah Cricket Stadium for game three on Sunday (
