The WHITE FERNS saved their best for last against Pakistan in Sharjah, putting in a clinical all-round performance to claim a convincing seven-wicket victory in the fourth and final Twenty20 International.
Wellington Blaze batswoman Sophie Devine was once again at her destructive best, smashing 41 runs off just 17 balls as the visitors ran down their 90-run target with nine overs to spare.
Devine was awarded her fourth Player of the Match award of the seven-game tour and was fittingly named Player of the ODI and T20 Series for her 325-run aggregate at a strike-rate well above 100.
After sitting out game three, Canterbury Magicians speedster Lea Tahuhu showed her class on return, bowling with pace and aggression to help stifle the host’s batting innings.
The 27-year-old finished with the sparkling T20 figures of 1-11 from her four overs and was involved in affecting a superb relay run-out with captain Suzie Bates.
Despite winning the toss and electing to bat first, Pakistan’s innings was never allowed to gain any real momentum.
Young Central Hinds pace-bowler Hannah Rowe followed up her impressive T20I tour debut with another strong showing of 3-22, while Auckland Hearts swing bowler Holly Huddleston also proved hard to get away, returning figures of 2-16 from her four overs.
89 was always going to be tough for the hosts to defend and that was soon made impossible by Devine’s opening onslaught.
The powerful right-hander struck seven fours and a six as she, and the promoted Amy Satterthwaite (
Both players would fall before the end, but the damage had been done, allowing Auckland Hearts captain Maddy Green and wicket-keeper Katey Martin to reach the target at the end of the 11th over.
The victory completed a clean sweep of the T20I series 4-0 and gave the WHITE FERNS a 6-1 tour score.
The team will depart Dubai on Wednesday and are due to
