Northern Districts took a valuable six-wicket bonus point win off the Otago Volts in a relatively low-scoring affair at Cobham Oval, Whangarei as the race to catch the Central Stags and Wellington Firebirds on The Ford Trophy leaderboard intensified.
Northern Districts captain Jeet Raval had sent in the visitors in Whangarei, ND putting in a solid team effort to bowl the Volts out for just 139, and in just the 40th over.
Young quick Matt Fisher pocketed 3-24 as 59 of those runs coming from the Volts skipper himself, ex-ND allrounder Nick Kelly, in a lone hand.
Tim Seifert struck 51 off 46 at first drop in reply to steady ND's chase, supported by a 52-ball 41 from Chris Swanson on his Domestic and Northern Districts debut to get the hosts home comfortably before a big rematch on Sunday.
