Bangladesh win sets up crucial tie

New Zealand’s final Group A game against Pakistan took on even greater significance after Bangladesh sealed their qualification to the Super League stage of the ICC Under-19 World Cup.

A four-wicket win for the Tigers over reigning champion Pakistan took them to the top of Group A with four points.

New Zealand takes on Pakistan on Friday needing a win to follow Bangladesh into the latter stages. A place in the plate is available as consolation for the loser.

Bangladesh coach Allister de Winter said: “Our target was always the semi-final and that has not changed but if we can get there then we can achieve anything.”

Dipak Patel’s side will look for the vital win at Colombo’s Sinhalese Sports Ground on February 10.
