BLACKCAPS to visit Middlemore

Before the BLACKCAPS head off to Sri Lanka, two of the Auckland based players will be visiting Kidz First Children’s Hospital.

Tomorrow (Wednesday 21 July) between 1pm and 2pm fast bowlers Daryl Tuffey and Kyle Mills will visit children in the playroom of Kidz First.

Tuffey has been to Middlemore Hospital a number of times before. He had surgery there recently, and has also done hospital visits with children through his cricketing career.

He’s looking forward to seeing the children tomorrow. “I’ve been a couple of times with the BLACKCAPS around Christmas time when we used to play ODI games on Boxing Day in Auckland and it was great to see the look on the kids’ faces,” he said. “Obviously they are fighting their own battles so it’s quite nice to go in and see some big smiles.”

The players will spend approximately an hour visiting the hospital, spending some time in the playroom participating in fun activities with the patients and doing bedside visits to bed-ridden patients.
