Amanda Cooper and Kate Blackwell starred for State Wellington Blaze with bat and ball respectively in their side’s State League victory over State Auckland Hearts at the Basin Reserve.
Wellington completed a 30-run win in the opening match of the campaign after setting Auckland 203 to win.
The total was boosted by Blackwell’s 47 from 43 balls, 43 from Anna Smith and 22 from Megan Wakefield.
Despite 53 off only 44 balls from Auckland captain Rebecca Rolls (pictured), the visitors were contained to 172 all out.
Cooper's four wickets for 30 proved decisive and Wellington also received a strong contribution from Amber Little (three for 38).
