Collymore will miss NZ tour

West Indies fast bowler Corey Collymore is set to undergo surgery in Melbourne to remove a bone spur on the patella tendon in his right knee today.

Collymore will miss the West Indies' one-day encounter with the Prime Minister's XI in Canberra tomorrow.

The pace man will require approximately four months for recovery which will effectively rule him out of the West Indies tour to New Zealand starting in February of 2006.

His rehabilitation will be closely monitored and it is expected that he should be available for selection for the home Test series against India in 2006. Collymore bravely played during the recent three-Test series against Australia with a significant amount of pain in his right knee and was rested from the training sessions between tests.

The West Indies squad will consist of 12 members for the final game of the tour as no replacement will be sought. Collymore will return to the Caribbean on December 7 after travelling to Melbourne from Adelaide on Tuesday.
