Christchurch based student Anna-Monique Nussbaumer will soon be gracing the halls of New Zealand Cricket after being awarded the First Foundation scholarship.

New Zealand Cricket has become a sponsorship partner of  First Foundation whichi is a unique educational trust founded to give young New Zealanders, with plenty of talent but few financial resources, a ‘hand up’ to tertiary education.

The scholarship supports Anna over the next four years and she will be gaining work experience with New Zealand Cricket during the scholarship period. New Zealand Cricket will also contribute towards her study fees, which allows Anna to continue to succeed academically.

Anna is currently in year 12 at Catholic Cathedral College and was chosen for the scholarship because of her hard work, dedication and leadership regarding her academic pursuits, at her church and within the Pasifka community in Christchurch.

She is part of Catholic Cathedral College A netball team, a Student Council member, plays the flute in the school band, is involved with cultural groups and plays an active role within her church. Because of her strong leadership abilities she is also in line for the top leadership positions at her school in 2010.

Her maturity was also a stand out attribute during her interview process with New Zealand Cricket as well as her cheerful and chatty outlook.

The team at New Zealand Cricket is looking forward to welcoming Anna on board in the near future.
