The Gillette Cup is back as the pinnacle event in secondary school boys cricket, but this time it comes with an additional twist.
For the first time, Gillette will now sponsor the secondary girls tournament, appropriately to be known as the Gillette Venus Cup.
Both the Gillette Cup and Gillette Venus Cup pit the top school from each of the six Major Associations against each other to find the top secondary boys and girls teams in the country.
WHITE FERNS star all-rounder Suzie Bates was a former winner of the secondary girls competition.
“I look back at my time in the national schools tournament fondly. Yes, winning it was great, but I also made some lifelong cricket friends and memories that I will always treasure,” said Bates.
The Gillette Cup is decided over five 50 over matches while the Gillette Venus Cup is competed for in T20 cricket.
Both tournaments will be held in early December at the NZC High Performance Centre, Lincoln and Burnside Park, Christchurch.
