Guptill ruled out of fifth ODI

BLACKCAPS opener Martin Guptill has been ruled out of the fifth ODI against India in Wellington with a back injury.

Guptill aggravated his lower back while throwing a ball in fielding practise yesterday and team physio Vijay Vallabh said he would miss today’s game as a precaution.

“Martin’s been assessed this morning and while his movement has improved significantly overnight, he is still in some pain and it’s better for him to rest at this stage.

“Martin will stay in Wellington with the T20 squad and be monitored over the coming days ahead of the first match of the series on Wednesday.”

Auckland Aces batsman Colin Munro has rejoined the ODI squad in Wellington this morning.
