Havelock North back to defend title

The NZCT Secondary Schoolgirls national finals kicked off this morning in Palmerston North. 

Six teams have managed to knock out over 120 other schools along the way to the finals. These six teams comprise of the winners of the contests in each Major Associations. The six teams include: Waikato Diocesan School for Girls, Havelock North High School, Wellington Girls’ College, Rangi Ruru Girls School, St Hilda’s Collegiate and St Kentigern College.
Havelock North High return this year to defend their title with Waikato Diocesan School for Girls, Wellington Girls’ College, St Hilda’s Collegiate and St Kentigerns all returning from last year’s finals. Rangi Ruru Girl School makes its first appearance at the national finals. 

The NZCT Girls’ Cup is a great occasion for schools to hit out against the best and is a critical component of the player development pathway for secondary school girls with numerous White Ferns having played in the NZCT national finals tournament in the past. They include: Haidee Tiffen, Aimee Watkins, Sara McGlashan, Ros Kember, Suzie Bates, Maria Fahey and Rachel Priest, Katie Perkins, Kate Broadmore, Frankie Mackay, Natalie Dodd

The NZCT Secondary Schoolgirls national finals consists of 5xT20 matches, the team with the most points at the end of the tournament will be declared the winner.
