Jones out for series

England paceman Simon Jones has been ruled out of the Test series against India with a knee injury.

The Glamorgan bowler has flown home from Nagpur after breaking down before the first Test, which finished as a draw earlier in the week.

Jones had an arthroscopic surgery last week to determine the extent of the injury to his left knee and is not expected to return for the seven one-day internationals.

"He will begin his rehabilitation program under the supervision of the England one-day international physiotherapist Dean Conway this week," the England and Wales Cricket Board told Agence France-Presse.

England, a side struggling with injuries, has already lost captain Michael Vaughan for the series because of a persistent problem with his right knee.

The team is being led by all rounder Andrew Flintoff in the absence of Vaughan.

The second Test is at Mohali from Thursday, and the third Test is at Mumbai from March 19.
