South Africa batsman Justin Kemp has been ruled out of the Boxing Day Test against Australia at Melbourne after failing a fitness test.
Kemp was forced to pull out of the match after missing training on Christmas Day.
South African star all-rounder Jacques Kallis will replace the injured batsman, Kallis given the all clear to play after recovering from an elbow injury.
After a solid half century, which helped steer the Proteas to a draw in the first Test against Australia at the WACA, the selectors had faced a daunting task of who to drop for Kallis' return.
However, Kemp's failed fitness test takes all the pressure of them.
"I guess it made our selection poser a little bit easier," South Africa manager Mickey Arthur told the BBC.
