James Marshall fell one run short of a century as State Championship leaders Northern Knights composed an impressive first-innings total against champions State Central Stags at Gisborne.
Marshall’s 99 was the top score as the Knights compiled 516 in reply to the Stags’ 305 at Harry Barker Reserve.
Nick Horsley made 66 to become the Knights’ fourth 50-maker, with Bruce Martin unbeaten on 28.
Greg Hay made his second half-century of the match, standing at 52 not out at stumps, as Central ended the penultimate day on 108 for three, seeking 211 to make their hosts bat again.
