A five-wicket bag by Chris Martin and a Peter Ingram century were the main attractions as the State Central Stags and State Auckland Aces resumed first-class cricket at Napier’s McLean Park.
Martin took five for 38 as the State Championship holders were removed for 181.
Andre Adams also contributed with three for 54 as the hosts were dismissed inside 66 overs.
Opener Ingram put on 105 of the Stags’ runs - 58% of their total – with Bevan Griggs (31) and Andrew Niblett (38) the only other batsmen to reach double figures.
The Auckland reply stood at 137 for three at stumps, youngster Colin de Grandhomme 65 not out and Rob Nicol unbeaten on 36.
