Men's National Club final

Takapuna and St Alban’s will battle it out for club supremacy in the final of the Men’s National Club Championships to be held at Cornwall Park tomorrow.

The two sides have clearly been the best in the tournament and after five rounds sit at number one (St Albans) and two (Takapuna) on the table in the six team competition.

Takapuna, representing Auckland, went through the pool stages with just one loss and showed some incredible flair with the bat. They cemented their trip to the playoff for first and second with a 258 run romping of Taieri, having posted 433 for four in the first innings.

Christchurch side St Albans have been the most consistent of the teams so far and went unbeaten through pool stages. While they haven’t shown the same brilliance with the bat that Takapuna have, they have had composure in a number of tight matches. Their final round robin game against Eastern Suburbs was an example of this, where they picked up a tense eight run win.

The two sides previously met on day three of the competition, with St Albans coming away the victors.

The other matches will see Otumoetai Cadets play Eastern Suburbs for third and fourth and Taieri take on United for fifth and sixth.

All matches will be live scored on www.blackcaps.co.nz.
