National Under-17 tournament: Day One

The 2006/07 National Under-17 tournament began at Napier’s Nelson Park, with Auckland’s batting performance against Northern Districts the highlight.

Auckland won the toss and elected to bat, and were all out for 380 from 75 overs, before following up to take five ND wickets at a cost of 80 runs and closing in on first-innings points.

Central Districts are in a good position to take first innings points, ending the day on 87 for two, in response to Wellington’s 197.

Otago still require 81 to take first innings points from their match against Canterbury. Having bowled out Canterbury for 145, Otago stood on 85 for five overnight.
