Players overcame a change of venue to enjoy full 40-over matches at day two of the New Zealand Community Trust Cup Finals in Christchurch.
Heavy overnight rain forced a move from Ilam Playing Fields to artificial wickets at Hagley Oval, but all four matches were able to go the distance.
Champions New Plymouth Girls High School earned a 23-run win over Westlake Girls High, after Kate Broadmore made 33 runs in their 99 for six, before taking three wickets for nine runs.
Kate Perkins made 28 for Westlake, but they fell 23 runs short, with Broadmore and Kendra Cocksedge, with 3/23, doing the damage.
In the other Group A match, Tauranga Girls College scored a 72-run win over Marian College.
They were all out for 138 in 35.3 overs, boosted by 61 from Kirbie Samkin.
Sophie Laurent who took 3/14 for Marian, while Lucy Ewing, Grace Grocott and Olivia Taylor all took two wickets each.
In reply, Kiriana Brown led the way with 23, but her side was dismissed for 66, with Samkin backing her batting performance with 3/14 off eight overs.
Whangarei HS chased 144 for victory against Otago GHS in Group B, on the back of 40 from Kelsey Dunn and Injoo Prentice’s unbeaten 34.
Otago was 143 for four after 40 overs, with Hannah Smallfield scoring 50.
Wellington Girls College completed an exciting victory over Havelock North High School, holding their total of 126.
Rachel Chin batted throughout the innings for 35 and Kate Clayton scored 22, with Olivia Gregory taking 4/13 and Sally Hensman 2/27.
Olivia Gregory led the chase with 29 not out, but Whetu Charteris took 4/15 and Celia Holmes 3/24 for Wellington GC.
