Medbury School and King’s School played their first match of the tournament on Bert Sutcliffe Oval where Medbury School won the toss and decided to bat. Medbury School batted their 20 overs with just the loss of four wickets and set a total of 110 for King’s School to chase. Angis Sidey top-scored with 34 runs and Thomas McClean supported well with 23 not out. King’s School had a strong start to their chase with their top three batsmen making starts. Louie Chandulal top-scored with 43 runs and help his side to a three-wicket win. Angus Sidey and Matthew Quin bowled well for Medbury, picking up two wickets each.
Otumoetai Intermediate School v Raroa Normal Intermediate School
Raroa Normal Intermediate School 149/6 (S French 50, L Coleman 48, L Baker 2-26) beat Otumoetai Intermediate School 107/5 (T Pringle 57*, KS Weerasundara 1-11) by 42 runs
Otumoetai Intermediate School and Raroa Normal Intermediate School began their tournaments on Lincoln No. 3 ground. Raroa won the toss and elected to bat, leading to the competitive score of 149/6 after their 20 overs. There were impressive knocks by Sammy French (50 runs) and Liam Coleman (48 runs) and Logan Baker picked up two wickets for Otumoetai. A strong display by Otumoetai’s opening batsmen and captain Timothy Pringle (57 not out) was not enough to take his side to victory. Tight bowling by Raroa saw them restrict Otumoetai to 107/5 and end with a 42-run win.
Balmacewen Intermediate School v Huntley School
Balmacewen Intermediate School 103/5 (J Cumming 25, S Miller 23*, H Godfrey 3-11, J Clark 1-14) lost to Huntley School 104/4 (H Godfrey 30, A Lennox 27, C Elliot 1-13) by 6 wickets
Balmacewen Intermediate School and Huntley School kicked of their campaigns with a game on Bert Sutcliffe Oval. Balamacewen won the toss and decided to bat, posting the score of 103/5 from their 20 overs. Shaedon Miller and Jacob Cumming scoring 25 and 23* runs respectively. Harry Godfrey had a great day with the ball picking up 3 wickets for 11 runs. Huntley managed to chase down the runs needed in the 17th over and end with a 6-wicket win. Harry Godfrey also performing with the bat, top-scoring with 30 runs.
Raroa Normal Intermediate School v Balmacewen Intermediate School
Raroa Normal Intermediate School 103 all out (SJ French 41, A Langdon 25, M Ruske 2-7) lost to Balmacewan Intermediate School (BR Wheeler Greenall 62*, JJ Gilchrist 1-12) by 7 wickets
Raroa Normal Intermediate School and Balmacewen Intermediate School faced each other on the Lincoln Green for their round two game. Raroa had a strong start to their innings but constant wickets began to fall and reduced their innings to 103 all out after 20 overs. Sammy French top scored with 41 runs and Michael Ruske bowled well with 2/7. Balmacewen had a steady chase to their target which was led by a great knock of 62* from Becham Wheeler-Grenall. Balmacewen ended winning the game in the 16th over by seven wickets.
King’s School v Huntley School
Kings School 146/6 (CW Cleal 39, J Bhatia 17*, HGR Godfrey 2-14) beat Huntley School 133/5 (BNL Loudon 35*, CG Heaphy 29, SM MacDonald 3-16) by 13 runs
King’s School and Huntley School played their second round match on Lincoln No. 3 ground. King's School were sent into bat and scored an impressive 146 off their 20 overs for the loss of six wickets. Charles Cleal top-scored with 39 runs and Harry Godfrey picked up two wickets for Huntley. Huntley chased their target well with four batsmen all contributing, Ben Louden the pick of the bunch with 35 runs. Sebastian Macdonald spearheaded the King’s bowling with 3-16 helping his side to a 13-run win.
Medbury School v Otumoetai Intermediate School
Medbury School 146/2 (AH Sidey 61*, ZRH May 34, DJ McNaught 1-25) beat Otumoetai Intermediate 96/9 (TJ Pringle 36, TE McClean 3-11) by 50 runs
Medbury School and Otumoetai Intermediate School played their second round match on Bert Sutcliffe Oval. Medbury put themselves into bat and scored 146/2 after their 20 overs. Angus Sidey with 61* was the outstanding performer but was supported well by Zach May, who scored 34 runs. Otumoetai’s opener Timothy Pringle batted well to reach 36, but his side fell well short of their target, finishing on 96/9 after their 20 overs. Thomas McClean was the standout bowler for Medbury with 3-11, helping his side to a 50-run victory.
