Havelock North lost regular wickets during their batting innings, but Ruby Roberts batted well to reach 15 and top-score for her side. Georgie Jessop bowled well picking up 3-16 and Rebecca King also bowled well to finish with 2-12. Havelock North picked up early wickets during their bowling innings through Roberts who finished with bowling figures of 2-23, but Kloe Vermier batted strongly to reach 24 not out and Georgie Jessop (10 runs) helped to guide their team to a 7-wicket victory.

Tauranga Intermediate School and Raroa Normal Intermediate School played their first match of the tournament on Lincoln No. 3 ground. Raroa bowled first and through some terrific bowling by Rosa Tse who finished with 6-14 restricted Tauranga to 70 runs. Sophia Rose top-scored for Tauranga with 20 runs. Raroa also found it difficult to bat and lost regular wickets throughout their innings. Nensi Patel and Emily Pilbrow both picked up 3 wickets each to help Tauranga to a 27-run victory.
Heaton Normal Intermediate School v Belmont Intermediate School
Heaton Normal Intermediate School 132/4 (GL Ansell 47, AS Browning 2/19) beat Belmont Intermediate School 116/7 (LK Easterbrook 60, GE Edge 3/8) by 16 runs
Heaton Normal Intermediate School were sent into bat for their first match of the tournament against Belmont Intermediate School on Lincoln Green. A great captains knock by Gracie Ansell (47 runs) laid the foundations for a strong score of 132/4 after their 20 overs. Anna Browning was the pick of the bowlers for Belmont after picking up 2/19. Belmont set after their big target but lost early wickets, number three batsman Libby Easterbrook steadied the ship and produced a great batting innings, scoring 60 runs. But some tidy bowling by Georgie Edge (3/8) and Gracie Ansell (2/15) was enough to get the victory for Heaton, earning them a 16 run win.

Libby Easterbrooke bowled superbly to pick up figures of 3-14 and Kennedy Scott also did well with the ball finishing with 2-22. Ruby Roberts performed well with the bat to reach 29 and Jorja Pollock supported well with 20 runs to help her side to a total of 98. Belmont showed their class during their batting innings chasing down their total with only one wicket lost. Anna Browning scoring 36 not out and Libby Easterbrooke 24 not out to earn their side a big nine-wicket win.

Heaton Normal Intermediate School and Tauranga Intermediate School squared off on the Bert Sutcliffe Oval and Heaton were sent in to bat. A terrific knock by Lucy Murray of 71 not out set her side up for the very competitive total of 138, Heaton only losing three wickets during their innings to set their total. Tauranga’s opener and captain Nensi Patel batted well to reach 32 runs, but unfortunately for Tauranga wickets fell regularly at the other end thanks to the bowling of Georgia Edge 4-8 and Lila Bradley 2-3, resulting in the side suffering an 80-run loss.

Arrowtown Primary School and Raroa Normal Intermediate School met in the second round at Lincoln Green. Raroa decided to bowl and after eventually dismissing both openers Indigo Little and Harriet Neilson for 28 and 20 runs managed to pick up quick wickets and restrict Arrowtown to 116 when possibly a bigger score looked to be on the cards. Eleanor White bowled superbly for Raroa picking up five wickets for 18 runs. Raroa struggled initially in their batting innings, losing quick wickets, but Rosa Tse helped build runs and momentum with a timely 24 runs. Raroa brought the game into reach after having looked down and out, but could not quite reach their target and fell four runs short. Arrowtown bowlers Claudia Watts and Kloe Vermeir did the damage for their side, picking up four and three wickets respectively.
