Our official photographer is the best in the country. New Zealand Cricket congratulates Auckland photographer Andrew Cornaga, founding director of Photosport Ltd, on winning the coveted supreme award at the 2015 TP McLean New Zealand Sports Journalists Awards.
Cornaga's champion portfolio included an iconic BLACKCAPS moment captured at the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup.
With perfect timing, framing and focus, he snapped the unforgettable moment that Daniel Vettori pulled off his spectacular "Air Vettori" catch in the quarterfinal at the Basin Reserve for Photosport — New Zealand Cricket's official photographic supplier.
It was named the best single sports photo of 2015.
It is the third time that Cornaga has taken out the supreme honour at New Zealand's sports journalism awards, and the lensman had also cleaned up two individual category awards before the ultimate prize was announced.
The annual awards are judged by sports journalists themselves and open to all modes of professional sports journalism. Well done Andrew!
