Annual survey results
The museums Annual Survey results for 2010/11 completed in April are extremely pleasing in terms of visitor’s appraisal of the museum. There was a 100% visitor satisfaction rating (41% excellent, 48% very good, 11% good) for the 6th year in a row, and the Overall Quality ‘excellent’ rating figure was 78% (100% in total as 22% regarded the overall quality as good).
New visitation record established
A new annual visitation record was established in 11 months (June – April) with 2,848 visitors in this period compared to the previous 12 month annual record of 2,832 visitations achieved in 2009/10.
School and community group visitation exceeded
School and community group visitations have exceeded the Business Plan objective for 2010/11. The planned and/or projected visits are on target to equal, or exceed, the visitation record of 37 groups established in 2009/10.
British visitors top the table
69% of the museum visitors questioned in the Museums Annual Survey 2010/11 come from overseas with British visitors being the most significant i.e. 36%, followed by Australian visitors at 25%. Of New Zealand visitations in 2010/11, 7% are local or regional visitors, and 24% are national visitors.
Touch-screen technology coming soon
The museum is planning to develop a new touch-screen interactive for the 2011/12 year featuring cricket poetry, music, radio/television commentaries etc. Watch this space, or access forthcoming museum newsletters, for more information as the project unfolds in the future, commencing in July 2011.
