South African captain Graeme Smith has admitted the Proteas face a selection headache on whether to play a spinner in the Boxing Day Test at the MCG.
Smith said that Nicky Boje was likely to get a recall for the second Test, but a grassy wicket had thrown a spanner into the works.
"It's a tough one," Smith said. "The only thing that will be up for discussion will be a spinner."
"If a spinner is only going to play a defensive role there is always a question mark over whether you are going to him."
"We want to play guys who are going to pick up wickets. The wicket has a lot of grass on it."
Meanwhile, Smith believes the confidence his batsmen gained against Shane Warne in a tense Test in Perth, could give the Proteas the edge in the series.
"Warne was always going to be a major factor going into the series," he said. "A lot of guys have a lot of confidence facing him. He bowled 40 overs unchanged from one end and we will take that confidence."
