Skipper leads Spirit chase

Nicola Browne’s half-century led State Northern Spirit to a second victory over State League holders Central Hinds in consecutive matches.

Spirit captain Browne (52) contributed to significant stands with Anna Wilkins (42) and Holly Huddleston, whose unbeaten 48 helped Spirit overhaul Central’s 179 with five balls to spare.

Sara McGlashan and Zara McWilliams were top scorers for the Hinds with 33 each as they survived their 50 overs with a wicket in hand.

Kate Pulford removed three Hinds batsmen for 26, with Megan Murphy and Maree Hannay taking two each, the spinner taking her double in three 38th-over deliveries.
