Volts claim first-innings points

James McMillan took seven wickets to help State Otago Volts claim first-innings points from their opening State Championship game of the season against State Canterbury Wizards.

McMillan removed Canterbury captain Chris Harris (120) as the home team was dismissed for 367, to end with figures of seven for 105.

Otago enforced the follow on, their first innings score of 601 for nine declared more than enough to earn the bonus points.

Canterbury made 213 for two in their second innings, with top three Todd Astle, Brendon McCullum and Peter Fulton all earning half-centuries.
