As part of the celebrations, they played their annual traditional match against Palmerston North Boys High School. The game between the two teams saw them play for the Taylor Franklin Trophy for the very first time. The trophy is named after famous cricketing old boys Ross Taylor (PNBHS) and James Franklin (WC).
The 50-over game was won in the final over by Wellington College as they chased down the 221 runs required for victory with two balls to spare and eight wickets down.
It was a fantastic cricket match played between two very good sides and capped off a memorable weekend for Wellington College's cricketing history.
